Base64 Encoder & Decoder Online
Fast, client-side Base64 encoder and decoder. Convert plain text, auth tokens, and headers with live two-way synchronization.
What is Base64?
Base64 is an encoding scheme that converts binary data into a subset of 64 printable ASCII characters. It is not encryption — it is reversible encoding used to safely transmit binary data over text-based channels like HTTP headers, JSON, or email.
🔐 API Authentication
HTTP Basic Auth headers encode "username:password" as Base64 in the Authorization header.
🌐 Data URLs
Images embedded in HTML/CSS as data:image/png;base64,... for inline SVGs and icons.
📦 JWT Tokens
JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) use URL-safe Base64 (Base64URL) to encode headers and payloads.
📧 Email Attachments
MIME email attachments use Base64 to encode binary files for transmission over text-only SMTP.
